Flights, Floods, and Cyclones...Oh My!

Welcome to Australia! We knew Australia was far away, but when you buy tickets with airline miles they make sure you take the scenic route anywhere you go.  After a 5 hour flight from Honolulu to San Francisco (SFO), we had an 8 hour layover where at least we had the chance to meet up with Rafa, Andrea, and the kids again. That was only half of it...The SFO flight to Sydney was 13 hours 20 minutes! The important thing is that we made it safe and sound.

Even though the country is experiencing severe weather with cyclones in the north, floods in Brisbane and record high temperatures in Sydney, our arrival in Australia has us very excited. We have spent five wonderful days in Sydney.  We have walked many of Sydney's villages from Darling Harbour to Circular Quay and Manly Beach to Balmain.  We went to the beautiful beach at Bondi where you encounter a wide array of people from show ponies to wankers to regular blokes to beautiful girls.  We are delighted with the food here and have not had one bad meal.  We also had the chance to meet up with our mates Juan Pablo and Danielle who shouted (treated) Miguel and I to a wonderful afternoon of drinks at the Bondi Iceberg. They also invited us over for breakfast at their home on the BEACH! Truly a slice of heaven! They treated us like Kings and we are so thankful for the time spent with them.  Today we are headed to Tasmania, where will spend the next five days. Please enjoy our pics below from the beautiful city of Sydney!

Villages
A.K.A. neighborhoods.  The villages in Sydney are a must and each offers a different experience. It is hard to pick a favorite so we won't!

Food!
Sydney could be the capital of international cuisine. I am not exaggerating when I say we have not had one bad meal.

Opera Bar - Our favorite spot
There are a lot of great places in Sydney, but our favorite hang out spot was the Opera Bar, right underneath the Opera House.
